Exhibit in the Sheppard Gallery: Emily Arthur had an exhibit display named Endangered where she displayed some of her art work that had to do with birds. They were print makings of gnatcatchers that are birds that soar across the United States. The point of this exhibition was to display the endanger Native American culture is in. I think she did a really good job displaying her art work in print. It is definitely something I never expected to be displayed in that way. The only thing I could say is that the repetitiveness of the art was too much. She could've displayed other ways by changing the scene in which these birds looked like or where they were flying through. Overall, Arthur did a good job giving out her message about what the Native American culture is going through.

Exhibit in the Sheppard Gallery: Joe Allen also displayed some of his work and named his exhibit Tule Duck Decoy Maker. His work displayed some duck decoy art work. He is from Fallon and part of the Paiute community in that area. Allen made his ducks out of tule reeds and cattail. The way he designed these ducks were very exact and shaped like a duck. I really like how he made these ducks out of natural resources and related it to his culture and community. These ducks are used by hunters to lure fowl into natural pools and marshlands, as it is described in his statement. Overall, his gallery is well put and displayed his ducks very well.

Mary Flanagan "Digital Media Artist" lecture: Mary is a digital media artist who is currently working on teaching middle school girls a little about computer programming and gaming. This was mentioned in the beginning of the lecture and right then and there, that caught my attention. I personally think it is very important to teach girls these skills because this is a woman's world as well. Our society is just shaped to think that men are mostly the programmers and to have someone like Flanagan teaching girls about it, it is something very empowering. I also really like how she touches bases on scientific process and art process and how these are similar but are never "noticed". Throughout the year, I have attended different talks and exhibits and most of the artists have to do with experimental and scientific process but in an artistic way and are put together very well. This is something I would consider in the next project I take on. Flanagan also described what digital media is and how it could be artistic. She explained how digital artists go through different medias and programs for their art work and really, this is what it really is like to be a digital media artist. It is all about programming and using the right tools. This is something she uses with her students, she starts them off with the physical and then goes into the digital aspect of it. She is very passionate of what she does and it is very interesting how she started her lecture with the history of digital artists and see where she used this in her art work. Overall, her lecture is very informative because she focused on the past, her present, and the things she wants to do.

Corey Arcangel "Digital Media Artist" lecture: In this lecture, Chris talks about "recycling codes" and how he does this strategy in his work. He uses codes and programming from different past things and reuses them in his art work. An example would be his lecture presentation. He designed his talk in Netscape. He reused this because he thought it would be genius to reuse the old program in the future. Another example his the Data Diarires where he would go through the previous data that a local computer would go through (emails, notes, etc.). This was for his personal enjoyment but somehow found a way to make it into art. I think that Arcangel is good at reusing old stuff and using it. I like old stuff and will always find a way to make use of it again and I can definitely relate to him when he reuses things. Overall, his lecture is very informative and technical and I could use some of his pointers he mentioned in this lecture for my future.

I want to give a vibe of those years by adding funky lights to the presentation of my keyboards.
I have finally made my video that will be playing during the exhibition for others to play along with me.
Enjoy the video!
Throughout this whole project, I have gone through 4 different keyboards and last night, the Buzz Lightyear one gave up on me, ruining the symphony I had already made for it. BUT!! I found this old school Casio keyboard at Savers and saved my life at the last minute. Let's see what cool things it could do when I'm done circuit bending it.
This will be the intro of the symphony I am making for this project. I will be adding a little bit more tweaks to it and adding another keyboard as well. This sound clip has 2 different circuit bent keyboards being played at once as I start creating my symphony and then displaying a whole video of myself playing my keyboards.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11309820672706010470noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23874021277627243.post-1917299070702474982015-11-02T13:22:00.001-08:002015-11-02T13:29:54.563-08:00Location for The Symphony of Circuit Bend For my project, I would like to display it in a gallery space.

As I have mentioned in class, I am planning on projecting my video on a dvd player, projected on a wall with a table displaying my keyboards. The video will be playing and displayed in a place where it is visible and easy to hear. I want to be able to display my keyboards and have people interact with them as well.

I have recently purchased a new keyboard and other toys that could potentially work for circuit bending. I bought a toy laptop, a mathematical toy with sounds, and another keyboard. After trying to circuit bend these three objects, I have come to realize that keyboards are more successful and easier to circuit bent because of the amount of sounds and keys that they have. This keyboard will be different from the other two because the keys will be making crazy sounds.

This is one of the keyboards I have circuit bent after watching different tutorials. After the feedback I got in class, I will be making more circuit bent keyboards or toys in order to create a symphony. I will be creating a video with effects to display what these keyboards can do. For the exhibit, I'm planning on displaying the video and having the keyboards around the screen in order for people to experience it for themselves.

I would like to create an interactive piece but not really sure what its actual purpose it will be. In my previous digital media classes, I have explored circuit bending which really caught my attention and found interesting. I would like to create an object in which I have played around with the wires and would like to make a video either playing the instrument or having other people trying to interact with it. I would like to add special effects to my video, using some inspirations from Shana Moulton’s work.

Display how it has changed our culture, society, and generations. It is something important in our day life now that we use technology, social media, and internet unconsciously. We never stop to think how it has shaped us into who we are now and where we get our influences, to identify ourselves, etc.

As O'Reilly said on page 2, "the sense of reality in animation can be whatever you want it to be." Hence, how those words are italicized. In animation, can our creations really be whatever we want them and actually be acceptable? Lets say they are, but reading further down, he mentions how leaving the picture simple and not using filters or the blurring button makes the animation seem better, so other animations with too much filter or blur is not acceptable or considered artsy?

I really like how he says that everyone is always worried about originality. That no one ever wants to copy off others but yet always end up doing whatever everyone else is doing. I highly agree that originality starts from the ground up. How do we know when something is original and never been seen when trying to create an animation? We do use the same tools and programs, right? How can we actually begin an original animation and not be criticized? What I mean by "being criticized" is how will our creations be accepted in society if it's something that has never been seen before.

I chose this piece because it seemed scary from the start. Her face expression and the way she is dressed is what caught my attention the most. I wanted to keep this piece the way it was and just add a little tweaks to it. I first started with changing the filter and making it look more scary. After, I needed to add some motion to it so I began to use the clone stamp on the butterflies. These butterflies are pretty much the only objects in this picture that aren't scary so adding motion to it and making them look visible is what I intended to do.
